This holiday is a combination of spectacular countryside, a 4-night stay beside the sea, visits to Seville and Merida (“The Rome of Spain”), and 4 nights in beautifully restored historic Paradores, including the 15th century castle at Zafra which has recently been voted one of the 100 best hotels in the world.

Envisaged day to day programme

Day 1 Monday 1 October
Fly to Malaga and drive to the Parador at RONDA, standing above the famous gorge. Welcome drink and dinner in the Parador.

Day 2 Tuesday 2 October
Morning in Ronda. Depart at midday and drive to the village of Grazalema and then through the mountains and Grazalema National Park to the newly built Parador beside the sea in the historic centre of CADIZ for a 4-night stay. Dinner in the Parador.

Day 3 Wednesday 3 October
Guided tour of the city in the morning and the rest of the day and evening will be free. (Dinner is not included)

Day 4 Thursday 4 October
There will be an excursion to Tarifa, the most southerly town of mainland Europe, and to the Roman settlement at Baelo Claudia. We shall end the day at Conil de la Frontera and have dinner at a beach restaurant.

Day 5 Friday 5 October
This will be a free day to relax in the Parador, for shopping in the city or to take the ferry across the harbour to Puerto de Santa Maria, famous for its seafood restaurants. Dinner in the Parador.

Day 6 Saturday 6 October
Morning departure for Seville to spend the day in the city. Early evening drive to the Parador at ZAFRA, a 15th century castle in Extremadura, for a 2-night stay. Dinner in the Parador.  **Zafra has been voted one of the “100 best hotels in the world” by the Daily Telegraph**

Day 7 Sunday 7 October
There will be a tour in Extremadura including a guided tour of the Roman theatre and ampitheatre at Merida “The Rome of Spain”.  The evening is free to sample the local restaurants in Zafra (Dinner is not included)

Day 8 Monday 8 October
Morning in Zafra. Afternoon drive to CARMONA to stay in the Parador in the Alcazar at the top of the typical Andalucian town.  Farewell drink and dinner in the Parador.

Day 9 Tuesday 9 October
Morning in Carmona. Mid afternoon departure for Seville for any last minute shopping, and to have a final get-together for a tapas supper in the city centre before going to the airport for the return flight.
